Trips

All the trips that included hitchhiking, even very short ones.

#1 Vormsi (June 2015): Together with a friend I hitchhiked about 450km in three days (plus another 160km with an organised ride on the fourth day), what may not seem much, but we really went through half of Estonia and it took its time. Our aim was to reach the lighthouse in Saxby in the north west of Vormsi [1] which is a small island off the north west coast of Estonia. To sum it up, we reached the lighthouse and spent nice days in Viljandi, Vormsi and Tallinn.
Best ride:
- In the small village of Kõpu we got picked up by a computer linguist, who had developed the databases/corpuses I would use for my bachelor thesis and I got really excited to talk to him.

#2 Latvia & Lithuania (June 2015): Mixed travelling by bus and hitchhiking (~700km of the latter), visited Riga, Vilnius, Klaipeda, Ventspils, Kolka. The most interesting part was to hitchhike from Ventspils to Kolka at a small street with maybe one car every 5-10 minutes. Tourists drove past me, but locals were helpful and I made the 70km in four hours (sightseeing in Mazirbe included). I visited all of the livonian places I wanted to :)
Least useful ride: I didn't get acquainted with lithuanian geography and accidentally boarded a car to Panevėžys in Kaunas, which I had to get off of after 10km and I lost my good spot.

#3 Võru (June 2015): Very spontaneously visited Võru with a friend from Russia. We didn't really do anything there, but went to the beach for some time and hitchhiked back again (total ~140km).
Shortest waiting time: We lifted our thumbs and waited one second for the first car to pick us up.
