Piedra Mala

Piedra Mala is a small village at Lake Huechulafquen in Southwest Argentina.

Hitchhiking in/out

Unless you're climbing Volcan Lanin and get down the other side or crossing the lake to RP62, hitching in on RP61 means hitching out on RP61. After Piedra Mala, the road doesn't continue. There is very low traffic on the road. A bus goes to/from Junin de los Andes, but takes several hours. As you're close to the Chilean border, expect police controls, I was checked for weed here.

However, visiting this peaceful area is totally worth it. From the end of the route, there is a pathway to the waterfalls Cascada El Saltillo.

Accommodation and Sleep

There is a good camping spot to support local indigenous at Raquithue. However, you can find official and cheap spots all along the lake, providing basic services.
