East to Berlin

Somehow the spot that is mentioned didn't work that well for me. Instead of waiting at the bus-stop I made a move to the ramp where the motorway to Berlin starts. There is enough space for cars to stop. --Robino 12:18, 8 April 2008 (CEST)

Following passage was recently added:

> But it has to be pointed out that doing so is against the law, for the Autobahn starts there - and you must not walk or stop on it. Hitchhikers and drivers, who stop there, can be fined.

By an unregistered editor. I ask you what this mentioning adds considering: - article already mentions "stand before the sign, cars can stop after it". - the fine for stopping on the motorway is seven times higher than the fine for walking on the motorway (220 vs 30 euro or so, at least, that's in the Netherlands). - so by standing in front of the motorway sign you technically avoid the small fine, but the big fine which is a responsibility for the driver is not affected. - so by standing behind the motorway sign the only difference is that the hitchhiker is standing on a spot where it is not allowed. - and by waiting in front of the sign he still has to walk behind the sign later to board a car (cars can't stop before the sign). - article mentions that many people hitchhike there, so it's going to be jackpot there for the police fining the stupid hitchhikers ;) - which hitchhiker has ever been fined anyway for being on the motorway (answer: nobody).

So yeah in my opinion someone should just remove this anonymous addition plus the photo, or remove the caption, or change the caption to: in Hamburg you can hitchhike at Horner Kreisel just at the beginning of the motorway.

There are many more similar situations, and yes, I have not been at this spot, but for example in Arnhem (A325) and Utrecht (A27 (or A28?) you also have the best hitchhiking spots at the beginning of the motorway, and yes, somewhere a motorway sign has been placed. Well... --Fverhart 09:20, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Funny aspect of Russian hitchhikers

As I understand from the recently added picture, Russian hitchhikers have a head looking like a huge light bulb. I think this attracts the attention of many drivers ;). Question - have they been to Chernobyl :p --Fverhart 09:20, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
