The Randstad is a densely populated area of the Netherlands comprised of Amsterdam, Haarlem, Schiphol, Zoetermeer, Den Haag, Delft, Rotterdam and Utrecht. For such an urbanized area people are relatively friendly apart from the complexity of the motorway system hitchhiking is not too hard. Make sure you have good maps!
