Northwest towards Tainan and Taichung
High-speed rail trains between Kaohsiung and Tainan run frequently, take just 15 minutes to complete the journey, and cost only NT140 - buses and traditional rail are even cheaper - so the convenience and value of taking public transit the entire way arguably makes hitching between the two not worth the effort.
