I'm working on a daily mirror of the dumps. Since they're already quite big it'd be cool to bzip2 the dumps. guaka 22:29, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

I'm playing with Aarddict now. Hope to have usable .aars this week. guaka 00:33, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Using the XML dump

Spaak (talk) I'm getting time-outs when downloading the xml dumps :S

Which one are you trying to download? They work for me. --MrTweek(talk) 04:52, 11 September 2013 (CEST)

Hi, I downloaded the dump but it's in XML. HOw do I convert it into a readable format? THanks!

What is "readable"? Some code or some script? guaka 18:01, 6 March 2011 (CET)

WikiReader

Hello,

Im working on having Hitchwiki content in the WikiReader, ([1]) and as a part of the import process from the xml dumps to the device, looks like extra xml files are needed, as seen in the instructions found here: [2]

As stated in the instructions, the missing XML files are the ones with the licenses for the content, but I cant find them within the database dumps of this wiki. Im not sure they are completely necessary, but since im struggling with the process and it is not displaying on the device, I thought maybe I could give it a try and ask here for such files if they exist.

Also, I was wondering if the GFDL dumps are the only ones containing the entries posted before 1st july 2009 or if they can be found within the new dumps but with CC licensing.

Thanks!

At http://hitchwiki.org/dumps/ you can also fetch full-XX.xml - which should contain all article history. (It would probably make sense to gzip this stuff.) Let us know if you manage to get Hitchwiki in WikiReader! guaka 11:07, 1 June 2012 (CEST)
