Rarotonga
Quite possibly the easiest place in the world to hitch! The whole island is a 50km zone :D
Super easy to hitch, even at night time. Mostly you don't need to wait more than 2 minutes. Usually the first car with spare seats stops. If you carry a helmet you can even get picked up by scooters!
Do not get the 10-ride bus ticket, it is way faster to get a lift from someone than waiting for the bus, and you get to meet more locals hitching.
Carry a stick and some stones in your pockets though, most of the dogs are all bark but the bad ones bite.
