Batumi is a city in Georgia on the Black Sea, an important port and border crossing to Turkey.
Hitching out
Northeast to Samtredia, Zugdidi
A good strategy for hitchhiking northeast is to take a local bus to the coastal town of Kobuleti about 20 km north. Get off only at the northern end of Kobuleti, however, as the town is quite long and frustrating to walk out of.
South towards Turkey
The road south enters Turkey at the Sarp-Sarpi border crossing.
Sleeping
The cheapest sleeping is around the bazaar, where there are some cheap hotels and nearly every family rents out rooms. Even in high season a room for two people can be had for 20 lar.
