Thanks  == Formatting ==Some formatting things to be aware of: 1) No need to put city names in bold except for your contributions on Canada, but please don't write in the very first person as you did in line of the article (see what I've done to [[AlbertaRegina]] ("Other people I have talked to), have had trouble with 2) the highway number goes at the Service Station in ''end'' of the pastsubheading under ''Hitching out'', but I have notthe beginning."[[User:CRCulver|CRCulver]] ([[User talk:CRCulver|talk]]) 11:55, 17 June 2014 (CESTNo need to start off an article with a section heading '''About'''. On The initial paragraph of a community-edited forum like a wiki, it is not clear who "I" Hitchwiki article isindependent of any section. Write in the third person and try to keep your advice generalized. Thanks![[User:CRCulver|CRCulver]] ([[User talk:CRCulver|talk]]) 21:04, 24 June 2014 (CEST)

It will show you how the page/section will look with your changes without saving it, so you can continue fiddling with it until it looks the way you want it to look. It save the admins a bit of time, as they don't have to patrol every individual edit, see the little red exclamation marks on the [[Special:RecentChanges|Recent Changes]] page... I don't see any exclamation marks, but point made. I don't have much experience contributing to Wiki's so feed back, and advice is appreciated. I will try to learn a quickly as I can [[User:Fish Soup|Fish Soup]] ([[User talk:Fish Soup|talk]]) 18:06, 10 June 2014 (CEST) : The exclamation marks are gone because all edits were patrolled - basically people like me open the 'diff' entry, check that new users haven't made too much of a mess, and then click on 'Mark this page as patrolled".: To add your signature to anything on a talk page (and only on talk pages), use <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki> it will automagically be replaced by the signature. Also, don't start paragraphs with a space, it will not format such text. : And editing '''User''' pages (as opposed to '''User talk''' pages) is (in general) not done, i.e. my [[User:Prino]] page is my property, but you can freely add comments to my [[User_talk:Prino]] page. : And if you're more accomplished with html than with Wiki-ese, many html tags also work, the notable exceptions are the ones that link to other things. If you look at my [http://hitchwiki.org/en/Category:Hitchhikers_Logs log pages] and click edit (not sure if you as a non-sysop actually can do so), you'll see what I mean. [[User:Prino|Prino]]<small>[http://hitchwiki.org/prino/ blog], [[User talk:Prino|talk]]</small> 18:29, 10 June 2014 (CEST) I certainly have no intention of editing other people's user pages. I'm very new at this, so I have been looking for examples of how to format. Clearly, I've been looking in the wrong places, and it wont happen again.[[User:Fish Soup|Fish Soup]] ([[User talk:Fish Soup|talk]]) 19:30, 10 June 2014 (CEST) : Have a look at [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Introduction_2 Wikipedia]. Hitchwiki runs the same software, so editing is the same. And you can always experiment in your own [http://hitchwiki.org/en/index.php?title=User_talk:Fish_Soup/sandbox&action=edit sandbox] ;) [[User:Prino|Prino]]<small>[http://hitchwiki.org/prino/ blog], [[User talk:Prino|talk]]</small> 20:25, 10 June 2014 (CEST) Thank you, Prino [[User:Fish Soup|Fish Soup]] ([[User talk:Fish Soup|talk]]) 21:42, 10 June 2014 (CEST) == First Person == Thanks for your contributions on Canada, but please don't write in first person as you did in [[Alberta]] ("Other people I have talked to, have had trouble with the Service Station in the past, but I have not.").
