Tripoli (Lebanese Arabic: طرابلس , Ṭrāblos or Ṭrēblos, locally Ṭrōbles) is the second-largest city in Lebanon, located north of Batroun and Cape Lithoprosopon. The city is located 85 km north of the capital Beirut and can be described as the Eastern-most port of Lebanon.

As in August 2008, daily gun battles took place in Tripoli, especially at night. Take care if traveling here.

Hitchhiking out

  • Warning: Hitchhiking in, around and out of Tripoli can be very dangerous at the moment, especially for Western tourists. Take care, check the local news and, if hitchhiking is not explicit required, take a bus.
