Sutherlin is a city in the US state of Oregon.

Hitching out

Sutherlin is a wonderful city for hitchhiking to Eugene, as every ride that picks you up is usually heading there. Don’t accept rides to Rice Hill (exit 146/148) or Drain (exit 160/161/162) as these areas are very sparsely populated and it may take hours to get an onward lift.

Other than that, heading north is always quite easy. Exit 138 will be far easier to hike out of than exit 136 though the latter does have a perfect on-ramp with camping nearby. Heading south can difficult as vehicles are usually heading to Roseburg and no further.
